Man hacks wife over relish

A 34-year-old woman, Christina Napose, is battling for her life at Thyolo District Hospital after her husband hacked her with a panga following misunderstandings over relish.

In an interview with the Malawi News Agency (Mana), Thyolo Police officer-in-charge Josiah Kanthiti confirmed receiving a report of the incident. He said the husband, Benson Kalingo, has since fled to an unknown place.

Napose, a mother of three, told Mana that she met her fate on Sunday night when the husband wanted to prepare more relish, resulting into a quarrel erupting between the two. Both Napose and Kalingo hail from Lupiya Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Ngolongoliwa in the district. In the picture, Napose on a her hospital bed.
